Ensuring all students learn and grow is our collective responsibility.
Stevenson Elementary School
Welcome Stevenson Bulldogs!
Welcome back to Stevenson!  I would like to extend a special welcome to our 3rd grade students and new students to the district.  Beginning a new school year and in a new school can be at once exciting and worrying.  We understand!  The Third Grade Team and all of our staff are caring and skilled teachers who look forward to working with all of our students and especially our new students.

I look forward to seeing all of our students but this year is especially exciting, as we will open the new school year with air-conditioning in each classroom!  When the temperatures in school are cool, it helps us stay focused and continue learning  during  August and hot weather!  Thank you Dr. Thomas and all in the Heath Schools and Heath Community who helped us begin the year with air conditioning!

Another reason I look forward to a fantastic year is we welcome a School Counselor to Stevenson!  Mrs. Jennifer Windnagel will be joining the Stevenson and Garfield staffs.   Mrs. Windnagel will be working with students in the areas of Social Emotional Learning,
Academics and at times College and Career Readiness.  We look forward to building a strong and positive elementary counseling program for Heath Students.

We continue to be a Leader In Me school which means we practice the 7 Habits:  Be Proactive, Begin With the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First To Understand Then to Be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.  The first habit, Be Proactive, reminds us to work within our circle of control.  The beginning of a new year is a good time to begin new habits and utilizing what is in our circle of control to help us grow!

I am always interested in how to maintain a healthy technology balance.  I was reading an article in the New York Times about technology and the article opened with this sentence, “No one cares more about your child’s well being and success than you do.”  I believe that line is absolutely true.  As the new year begins I wanted to share this article with you as it is a good resource especially if you are seeking how to begin boundaries, a healthy technology balance and establishing habits for your children.

I look forward to working with all of you!
