Principal's Message
Heath Middle School Parents and Community,

As we enter into the midpoint of the year, I’ve been reflecting on all our students and staff have been doing this year and want to share a few highlights that have gotten us off to a great start:

• Student doghouse groups are accomplishing amazing things. Our students have been involved in food drives, spirit weeks, bake sales and community service opportunities. These involvements have enabled our students to explore their leadership potential.

• We are involved in a county program called Student Ambassadors for the first time this year. 7th and 8th grade students shadow a student at another Licking County school for a day and then that student comes and shadows a student at HMS. The students discuss similarities and differences, preconceived ideas about one another’s schools and how those may have changed based on their shadowing experience. Students will be involved in this during the second semester as well. This program allows students to make connections across districts and build relationships.

• Eighth graders also traveled to Washington DC for four days this nine weeks, and we had an absolutely amazing trip. Those who chose not to travel so far away visited several sites in Central Ohio during the week. A great experience for all of our students!

• Teachers continue to work on refining instructional plans and fine-tuning assessments to clearly show students' strengths and weaknesses. I am excited about the work they are doing here because it will enhance student learning and achievement.

Winter Weather Reminder:
As a reminder, our doors open at 7:35am. There is no supervision available prior to that time. Please time your drop-off so that students are not waiting outside in the cold. Students who ride buses are also welcome to stay on the warm, dry bus until it is time to come inside. We will also go outside at lunch as often as possible. Please make sure students wear appropriate clothing to accommodate cold temperatures this time of year.

Thank you for your continued support of our Young Bulldogs!
