Food and Party policies for Heath City Schools
There are two classroom parties each year, Fall celebration and Valentine’s Day. The parties are held at a designated time by the classroom teacher. In order to create a safe learning environment for all students and with the increase of food based allergies, parents/guardians are only allowed to to send in pre-package, individually labeled snacks or treats for these parties that are pre-approved by the district nurse and principal. All food items need to be peanut and nut free and also processed in a facility that is peanut and nut free district wide.
As a District wide initiative to discourage the use of food/candy for a reward both teachers
and parents/guardians are encouraged to recognize and celebrate students by methods that
do not involve food/candy. Per board policy, Student Wellness Program/Food Allergies we will no longer allow Birthday treats in the form of food/candy to be brought in and eaten during the school day. As a district we will no longer allow fast food/pizza to be brought in for lunch, due to the increased response in food base allergies.
We appreciate your attention and understanding to this policy for the wellbeing of all our
students. Please reach out to me or building principals should you have any questions or
Concerns.
