LifePump Initiative
LifePump Ad with Haitian child operating water pump
Clean water is so “normal” to the students at Stevenson, just the thought of someone not having that basic need was hard for them to imagine. We have the chance to support Design Outreach in placing a fresh water pump in a village in Haiti. Our students are very excited about the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of kids in Haiti and we simply ask that you join all of us on this journey!
Principal's Message

Stevenson Families,
It is a pleasure to watch all of our students learn and grow over the first part of the school year.  In fact, watching students write Wildly Important Goals sometimes called WIGS and meeting their goals has been especially rewarding.  You may have heard your child or both your child and his/her teacher talk about WIGS.  The reason for this is our staff has set a school goal:  All Stevenson students will make one year worth of growth in reading.  We are using the Star Assessments to monitor our growth.  More importantly students are setting lead measures or strategies which might include:  1. Reading 20 minutes 4 nights a week.  2.  Practice vocabulary words and their definitions 4 nights a week.   These strategies help us meet our goal.  However, one very important step is to use a scoreboard to monitor how often we are doing our strategies.  Our students record when they have completed a strategy in their Leadership Notebook.  Once a week students meet with their accountability partner to check in for encouragement and to account for his or her work on the goal.  Learning the 4 parts of Wildly Important Goals which are:

  1. Set a clear goal with a timeline from x to y
  2. Establish lead measures or strategies
  3. Create a scoreboard to account for when you complete a lead measure
  4. Meet with your accountability parent weekly
