Ensuring all students learn and grow is our collective responsibility.
Superintendent's Message 8/24/22

Welcome back!

I’d like to extend to each of you a warm welcome as we begin the 2022-23 school year!  We are so excited to see all of the students and family members come back to our buildings as we look forward to a year of success and accomplishments for our young people.

I look at this year as a fresh start and a new beginning, as we build upon a successful conclusion to the 2021-22 school year.  It was our honor to celebrate the class of 2022, and help send them to the next phase of their lives and careers.  Our young people achieved so much as they worked through a disruptive pandemic that changed life drastically.  They performed amazing feats in the classroom, and in many sports and activities throughout their entire high school experience.

This summer we completed a number of projects that improved our facilities for teachers and students. Radon remediation in the remaining three school buildings (Stevenson, Heath Middle School, and Heath High School) as well as the district office, and a large roofing project at Heath High School were our largest projects.  We also added storage and a staircase at Swank Field, purchased three new buses ($45,000.00 of each bus was paid for with grant funding), and made significant safety upgrades at Heath High School and Heath Middle School.

Work is already beginning on even more significant improvements for the future.  We need a new elementary school building for the district, and because state funding has been delayed for an indefinite amount of time, we are going to explore the possibility of moving forward with this project now.  The Intel announcement has also brought an increased level of development to the Heath community, and we are working hard to understand how that development will affect our district.  This study will take time, but we want to be ready to serve our students in the future.  We will also explore how we can better prepare students for the career opportunities that exist in Central Ohio, including the jobs that Intel and other companies will bring.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the many staff who serve our students and community.  Each person has worked extremely hard to make sure our students are learning and growing on a daily basis.  There is no staff that I would rather work with everyday than the amazing people in Heath City Schools.  Thank you all for everything you do!

There has never been a more exciting time to be a Heath Bulldog.  I look forward to a fast moving and exciting school year, and wish every student success!

Go Dogs,

Trevor Thomas, Ed.D.
